Between the Durance and the Mount Ventoux, Provence offers you its
most beautiful stone villages, whether on the top of the hill and
cliffs or down in the valley. You will hear about the most beloved
villages in France, as Gordes, Ménerbes, Oppèdes or
Lacoste, where Middle age castles and Roman ruins coexist with old
style farms still working on cherry, grape and olive trees.
Its bories, funny cone-headed stone houses which would shelter our
sheperds, dot the environning Guarrigue, a foisonning flora countrryside
that inspired many a painter or poet.
Visiting by a hot and sunny summer day the magnificient Collegiales
( french type churches) like that of lIsle sur la Sorgue, dating
from the XIIIth century, or Abbeys like in Sénanque, will provide
the shade that you need for tasting pleasantly our region.
The Pont Julien, aged of more than twenty centuries, willl be the
perfect halt coming back from the high located Bonnieux and its beauiful
sights, on the way to the french Colorado in Roussillon.
In the end, the Eygalières Chapell is unavoidable, on the road
to St Rémy de Provence. The whole Alpilles region is the perfect
place for shanty walks, in a countryside abouding with wild olive
trees and vineyards.
